Cesar Toro
Our founding member, Cesar Toro, combines over 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing and taxation. A graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting, Mr. Toro is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. In addition to his accounting career, Cesar was previously a professional violinist and a former ARMY officer.
Mr. Toro started his career in the Miami office of Deloitte where he spent two years as staff auditor working in various industries including banking, real estate and non-profits. He later moved to Puerto Rico where he spent four years at the San Juan office of KPMG. While at KPMG, Mr. Toro worked in various industries including banking, manufacturing and governmental.
After working with two of the “Big Four” public accounting firms, Mr. Toro gained experience in internal auditing as the Internal Audit Manager for the San Juan subsidiary of Scotiabank, and later as Internal Audit Manager for the Americas for Imerys, a French mining conglomerate. His work there included operational and financial evaluation of the company’s domestic and international operations, evaluating acquisition targets, and supervising the sale and closure of companies.
Mr. Toro subsequently served two years as Financial Director and Controller of one of Imerys’ mining operations in Brazil, with sales exceeding $100 million. As a result, he possesses extensive experience evaluating, recommending and implementing internal controls over financial reporting.
In his spare time, Cesar and Margarita enjoy playing tennis, golfing, boating, and traveling.
